Matakana Country Park is located just one hour north of Auckland, in the Rodney district which is one of the fastest growing tourism areas in New Zealand.

The park is the realisation of one man’s lifelong dream. Creator, John Baker as a child was sent to boarding school, where he befriended a Clydesdale horse. The horses name was ‘Lofty’ who became his best friend, sharing confidences and dreams. The park was born from one of those dreams and today provides a place of community and fun for thousands of people.
