Nature-Culture Walks
The Nature-Culture Walk takes place within the splendor of Aotearoa-New Zealand’s native forests with luxuriant plant and abundant bird life.

The local Maori guides provide a relaxing, stress free, informative and entertaining walk which is supported by the beauty and peace of nature.

pureORAwalks guides are all Maori whose ancestors have utilised forest resources for centuries and whom regard themselves as kaitiaki/guardians of the realm of Tane-Mahuta/God of the Forest. Our guides provide a relaxing, stress free, informative and entertaining walk which is supported by the beauty and peace of nature.

Visitors get to experience the ‘korowai/cloak of silence’ walk with dinosaurs, gather a food basket and put together a first aid kit with ingredients supplied by nature. Learn to weave a harakeke/flax bracelet or carve a taonga/treasure from pumice, and sing a Maori waiata/song.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing
The Tongariro Alpine Crossing in Tongariro National Park is one of New Zealand's most spectacular tramping tracks, and is considered the most popular one-day tramp in New Zealand

The Tongariro National Park is a World Heritage site which has the distinction of dual status, as it has been acknowledged for both itsnatural and cultural significance.

The above Maori proverb is an apt introduction to one day guided walk on theTongariro Alpine Crossing

The crossing passes over the volcanic terrain of the multi-cratered active volcano Mt Tongariro, passing the eastern base of Mt Ngauruhoe

The 19.4 km walk is renowned for its barren yet beautiful "moon like" volcanic landscape, unusual geological features, visible volcanic activity and views of the surrounding countryside below.
